Bacon says that some of the threat to scientific objectivity can be called idols. Errors emerging from our human nature are called the idols of the Tribe. We make a mistake in our understanding by applying human criteria basis, we commit an error. This error is called idol of the Tribe. Errors which occur in our understanding because of our peculiar nature and our impulses are called idols of the cave. Those factors which arise out of intercourse and association amidst men are called the idols of the market place. These idols are also hampering our search for objective truth.
