Introduction to Instrumentations Systems

Introduction and Function of Component of Instrumentation System

An instrumentation system is an assembly of various devices or components to form an integral whole, for observation, monitoring or control purposes. Instrumentation system can be classified into various categories on the basis of signal, response etc.sensor, variable conversion element, signal processing element, signal transmission element, signal presentation(recording) element are the essential component of Instrumentation system.

Analog and Digital System

The analog system is used to sense the continuous time and continuous amplitude signal and the processing unit also processes continuous time and continuous amplitude signal. In contrast, Digital system consists of analog transducer, but the signal processing unit consists of analog-to-digital converter(ADC),processing the discrete/digital signal and the display units are of numeric display devices viz. A digital computer, seven segment display, Digital multimeter etc.
