What is DBMS?

DBMS stands for Database Management System. It is a information system or software, which

Database management systems are software packages that simplify the creation, user and maintenance of databases. Several types of databases are used by organizations including operational, distributed, external, data warehouses and data marts. Some example of DBMS are Finacle (Core Banking Software), Pumori (banking Software), MS Access (Simple DBMS), MySql, Oracle etc.

Today DBMS is becoming one of the most vital parts of any organization as today's business enterprises cannot survive or succeed without quality data about their internal operations and external environment.

Difference between Database and DBMS

dBASE was originally published by Ashton-Tate for microcomputer operating system CP/M in 1980, and later ported to Apple II and IBM PC computers running DOS.
