National Pride

Nepal is one of the richest countries in the world in terms of national pride. Nepalese chest get enlarged, the head gets upright, heart gets thrilled, happiness crosses boundaries and Nepalese people's feelings get truly excited when we talk about our pride. We get truly excited when we talk about our pride, which has obviously recognized us nationally and internationally. Now, let’s discuss about major national pride briefly.

National Anthem

Every Country has its own national anthem, which is the pride of the nation. It generates the feeling of patriotism and respect towards the nation. It also makes people responsible and answerable to the nation. The national anthem has been adjusted after the political changes for Nepal that took place in 2062/063 B.S. Sayaun thunga phool ka hami eutai mala nepali is the national anthem of Nepal. It is composed by Pradip Kumar Rai, (Byakul Maila) as officially declared by the government of Nepal on 3^rd August, 2007 A.d. The anthem praises Nepal and its sovereignty, vanity, courage, pride, scenic beauty, progress, peace, respect, culture, religions, racial diversity, biodiversity.

Janaki Temple

Janaki is the Hindu Temple. Janaki Temple of Janakpur lies in Mithila region of Nepalese goddess Sita. It is bulid with bright white and constructed in an area of 4,860 sq. feet.It was the capital city of the kingdom of Mithila in the past. Mithila was the capital of the Videha (bodyless) spiritual Janakas, the rulers who were the embodiment of spiritual attainment. Legend has it that Sita, heroine of the Hindu epic Ramayana, was born here and later married the equally revered Lord Ram. Sita, who was the wife of the legendary hero Rama of the epic ‘Ramayana’ was born in Janakpur. A great centre of learning for scholars in ancient times, Janakpur once had hundreds of sages who contributed substantially to Hindu philosophy.During the Construction by Muslim artists, the temple was managed to recite " Namaj" for muslim as well.

Pashupatinath Temple

Lord Shiva is known by many different names; and Pashupati is one. Pashu means leaving beings, and Pati means master. In other words, Pashupati is the master of all living beings of the universe. This is how lord Pashupati is eulogized in the Vedas, Upnisada and ohter religious books.The temple of Lord Pashupatinath stands in the middle of an open courtyard. It is a square shaped pagoda temple built on single platform measuring 23.6 meters from the ground. There are gold gilt doors on all the four sides of the temple. Inside the temple there is a narrow walk engulfing the sanctum from where one can have closer view of Shivalinga. There are about 492 temples 144 stupas built in different styles and about 1000 shivalingas.

The roofs of temple are of gold and doors are of Sliver. Balachaturdashi and Shivaratri are the two festive days in which there go big religious fairs.

National Flag

Our national flag is unique in shape. It is the world's only non-quadrilateral national flag. Its crimson red is the colour of the rhododendron the country's national flower.Red is also the sign of victory in war. The blue border is the colour of peace. The moon and the sun of the flag signify that Nepal remains till the sun and moon remain. The crimson colour signifies bravery of Nepali Soldiers. The blue colour signifies peace loving nature.The moon represents the serenity of the Nepalese people and the shade and cool weather in the Himalayas. The Moon also symbolizes the longivity of the country. The sun stands for the fierce tenacity of the Nepalese people and the heat of the terai area of Nepal. The Sun also symbolizes the perpetuity of the country. Nepal is only the country in the world with the triangular flag. As a part of respect and glory of all Nepalese, it is shown, hoisted and used before formal programmes.

Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest)

Nepal is a country of Natural beauty. It has unlimited natural resources. There are 14 peaks of heights above 8000m. Among them, the highest peak of the World Mt. Everest (Sagarmatha) which is 8,848m. It is located in the Mahalangurn mountain range in Nepal and Tibet.

Sagarmatha has been named in the name of British surveyor Colonel of Royal Geographical Society. Mount Everest attracts many climbers, some of them highly experienced mountaineers. There are two main climbing routes, one approaching the summit from the southeast in Nepal (known as the standard route) and the other from the north in Tibet. Neplese are identified as honest, kind and good people in the World.

The Brave Gorkhas

We are also recognized as Gorkhalis in the World. The terms "Gurkha" and "Gorkhali" were synonymous with "Nepali", and derived from the hill town and district of Gorkha from which the Kingdom of Nepal. There are Gurkha military units in the Nepalese, British and the Indian army (Gorkhas) enlisted in Nepal.

The former Indian Armey Chief of Staff Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw once stated that"If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha."

Better to die than be a coward" is the motto of the world-famous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who are also an integral part of the British Army. They still carry into battle their traditional weapon - an 18-inch long curved knife known as the kukuri. The Gurkhas have loyally fought for the British all over the world, receiving 13 Victoria Crosses between them. Gorkhas are also the National pride of Nepal.
