Nepal is a peaceful country. It has diplomatic relation with many countries of the world. Foreign policy plays an important role in making such relations. There are many such countries which do not take the side of any group or bloc when international conflict takes place. They want to establish good relation with every countries and promote world peace.

Nepal is peace loving country. Nepal became a member of the United Nations in 1955 and since then, it has been an active participant of most UN peace operations. The participation of the Nepalese Army in UN peace support operations spans a period of over a half century. As a member of United Nations Organization, Nepal has been helping the UNO in maintaining peace by sending its troops to UN Peace Keeping Force. The Nepalese Army and Nepal Police have been deployed in many conflicting areas of the world by the UNO as a peacekeeping force. Nepalese troops played a vital role to maintain peace in Kosovo, Lebanon, Somalia, Congo, Sierra Leone, East Timor and so on. Nepal has diplomatic relation with many countries of the world. Foreign policy plays an important role in making such relations.

Most of the peace-loving countries who want political, economic and social progress are the members of the united nations. Nepal has made a substantial contribution to the UN peacekeeping operations since 1958 AD. The performance of Nepalese army in peacekeeping operations has earned a good reputation in the world. Nepal is also the active member of SAARC. It also participates in various international tournaments. Such games and sports help to develop mutual cooperation and international understanding. The Countries of this organization do not want to involve themselves in the conflicts. They want to establish the good relationship with every country.Due to its long involvement in the UN missions, Nepalese security agencies, particularly the Nepal Army, have gained extensive experience and understanding of UN peacekeeping. Recently, the government has provided support for establishing an international-standard training center known as BPOTC to strengthen training.

Nepal has made its identity as a peace-loving. It doesn't attack other but maintains friendly relation and follows the principle of neutrality with the countries of the world. It wants to establish a good relationship with every country and promotes world peace.

Nepal believes in non-alignment. Its foreign policy is to maintain friendly relation with all the countries. If any country threatens and attacks Nepal, it seeks peaceful solution. Failure to this leads this country to approach international peaceful means and solutions to the problems.
Non-alignment means a policy of not providing support for or receiving support from any of the powerful countries in the world basically during wars or conflict. It also means a policy of non-involvement. For example, as Nepal follows a policy of non-alignment, it doesn't seek help from America to fight Bhutan.
Nepal is considered as the "zone of peace". It is the birthplace of the legendary apostle of peace lord Gautama Buddha. But Nepal doesn't just stay idle as a witness to all the evidence happening round the world. Nepal is an active participant to peace conference and maintains neutrality in war-affected areas like Lebanon.
Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been providing emergency services during floods, landslides, earthquakes, air crash, mountaineering accidents, etc. it solves problems in the country in peaceful manner.
They also fight against anti-nationalist groups. They try to maintain security within the country safeguard human rights of the people.
