Overview

With the ever increasing population of the world demand of people is also increasing. This note provides us an information on the environment and environmental pollution.
Environment

The environment is only a place where all living beings can survive. Air, water, soil etc. are environmental components. People establish industry, build road, bridge, etc. Activities of people have negative effect on air, water and land. Degrade in the quality of environmental components is considered as environmental degradation.

Effects in environment by activities of people

With the ever increasing population of the world demand of people is also increasing. People fulfill their needs and demands by from the environment. Besides, every developmental activity like construction of the road, bridge, school, hospitals and so on is done on earth and done by the use of natural resources. When the resource of nature is used haphazardly then ecosystem gets degrade. These activities cause environmental pollution.

Environmental pollution

Environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems the world faces today. The environmental pollution is becoming an increasingly worse problem that needs to be taken care of as soon as possible to protect the resources of the earth. With the growing number of automobiles and the greenhouse effect problem becoming more and more of a threat, air pollution is something to be concerned with. Pollution is created by individuals, communities and by industries that collect and dispose of pollutants improperly. Many diseases have been evolving due to pollution. There are four types of pollution. They are:

  1. Air Pollution
  2. Water Pollution
  3. Land Pollution
  4. Noise Pollution
Things to remember
  • With the ever increasing population of the world demand of people is also increasing.
  • When the resource of nature is used haphazardly then ecosystem gets degrade.
  • The environmental pollution is becoming an increasingly worse problem that needs to be taken care of as soon as possible to protect the resources of the earth.
  • Pollution is created by individuals, communities and by industries that collect and dispose of pollutants improperly.
  • It includes every relationship which established among the people.
  • There can be more than one community in a society. Community smaller than society.
  • It is a network of social relationships which cannot see or touched.
  • common interests and common objectives are not necessary for society.

Questions and Answers
The total eradication of both living and non-living components of environment is called environment degradation.

Resources that are not made by the human being are called natural resources. It is formed by the natural process itself. All the things such as air, water, soil, vegetation, minerals are natural resources. The human being has to rely on natural resources for day to day activities.

Resources that are not made by the human being are called natural resources. It is formed by the natural process itself. All the things such as air, water, soil, vegetation, minerals are natural resources. There exists a natural process growth, development and destruction of the natural resources. They are crucial for all individuals, family society and the whole nation. Natural resources are our valuable wealth. Without which our existence is impossible. Natural resources are the things of our daily consumption and development. Destruction of the natural resources makes it difficult for the entire creature to survive.

Environment degradation affects the vegetation and other living existing environment of living organisms and vegetation is the favourable environment for them. Man has unlimited wants and aim. To fulfill which they cut forest, which causes problems such as soil erosion, flood, and landslides deforestation. Similarly, water pollution causes environmental degradation. Polluted water caused various types of diseases. E.g. dysentery, typhoid, cholera etc. and air pollution is major pollution on the urban and developed countries. Due to which people are suffering from loss of hearing, high blood pressure, heart diseases etc.

Water pollution causes several waterborne diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera, jaundice etc. to the human being.

Four effects of natural resources degradation are:
  1. Deforestation
  2. Water pollution
  3. Land pollution
  4. Air Pollution
Due to environment degradation the composition of the air has highly been altered. Various types of bio-geo-chemical cycles like oxygen cycle, nitrogen cycle, sulphur cycle etc. greatly contribute to maintain constancy in the composition of air. But due to environment degradation these cycles have been greatly affected which in turn have affected the air and has caused air pollution. The percentage of CO2 has been greatly increased in the atmosphere. In additional, environment degradation contributes for the production of a number of poisonous gases in the atmosphere like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide, Methane etc.
The measures for environmental conservation and promotion are listed below:
  1. Public awareness
  2. Tree plantation
  3. Conservation of forest
  4. Environmental sanitation
  5. Publicity campaign
  6. Maintenance and promotion of cultural heritage.
