Forest products are the important natural resources. We get wood and medicinal herbs from the forest. Forest helps to maintain the underground water. Forest also protects from the natural calamities like soil erosion, landslide and flood
All trees produce wood which is used as fuel. Usually, low-quality wood is used as fuel. The wastage of quality wood is also used for fuel. Wood from trees such as sal, sissoo, pine, deodar etc. is hard and is good quality wood which is used for making furniture and construction houses, bridges etc.It is known as timber.
Medicinal and aromatic plants are the valuable forest resources of Nepal. In Nepal, The medicinal value of plants as neem, amia or tulsi have been known for thousands of years. In Nepal, there are about 800 types of medicinal herbs in Nepal but only 70 are used as medicine. Quinine, the medicine used for the treatment of malaria, is obtained from the bark of the cinchona plant which is found in the different ecological region due to diversity in climate and other ecological factors. Extracts of dhatura and poppy seeds as pain killer and sedatives. Neem leaves have antiseptic properties. They are used to make antiseptic soaps and medicines for the skin. The different parts of the plant like roots, stems, leaves, fruits and seeds are used for medicinal purposes to cure many diseases.

Write short note on condition of forest in Nepal.
Nepal is a small country but rich in biological diversity. It has 5400 vascular plants, including over 254 species of endemic plants and 700 species of medicinal plants. About 53.3% of the total land area of Nepal is covered by forest. Only 11% of the forest lies in Terai and Mountain and more than 50% of forest lies in Terai region. Many valuable tree species are growing in conservation areas, but scientific studies on their identification, validation, conservation and management are yet to be initiated. Forests provide 75% of the total energy consumed in the country (fuel wood) and more than 40% of fodder for livestock is extracted from forests.
Write in brief about needs and importance of the forest.
Forest products are used in our daily lives. Forest offers watershed protection, timber and non-timber products, and various recreational options. They prevent soil erosion, help in maintaining the water cycle, and check global warming by using carbon dioxide in photosynthesis. When we cut the trees Its not just the trees but whole ecosystem falls apart. The forest provides oxygen which circulates in each and every living being. We cannot imagine our life without forest.
