Solid Waste Materials and Pollution

The solid waste materials like paper, plastics, etc. come out of our house regularly. If we did not manage properly or if dirt is thrown everywhere carelessly then the environment gets polluted and affects our health. That is why the waste materials needed to be managed properly in different ways according to the situation and places. The procedures that could be adopted to manage the waste materials are:

Reduction

One reason for causing difficulty in the management of waste materials is an unnecessary creation of waste. Waste materials can be classified into compost, degradable, recyclable waste etc. The waste could be given to KABBADI in order to reduce the waste materials.

Recycle

To change a substance either by softening or melting is called recycling. The scrap papers of copies from school and home, pieces of papers of wrappings of newspapers, papers from shopping and others could be reused in making new papers.

Reuse

We can prevent certain things from being waste by reusing them. Nowadays, beer, aerated drinks and whisky bottles are collected, cleaned and reused. This kind of solid materials that can be collected in the home and can be sold after latter or used in different propose.

Air Pollution

Air pollution

Air pollution causes heart diseases, eye problem, cancer, etc. Apart from it, air carries the bacteria and virus from one place to another place and transmits different diseases such as tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria and acute respiratory tract infections.

Causes of air pollution
  1. The dust particles and harmful materials blown out by the wind gets mixed in the air,
  2. Natural gases that come from inside the earth's surface,
  3. Harmful gases released from different factories, industries and vehicles,
  4. Gases that comes from burnt materials,
  5. Gases that comes from rotten and decayed materials,
  6. Poisonous gases spread out in the fields, rooms and houses.
Methods of preventing air pollution
  1. Forests should be conserved and greenery should be maintained.
  2. Waste materials should be disposed properly.
  3. Industrialization and urbanization should be well managed.
  4. Use of polluting vehicles should be controlled.
Air-born diseases
Air pollution is a significant reason for the adverse effect on health. It includes respiratory infections, heart diseases, stroke, lung cancer etc. Besides, difficulty in breathing, wheezing, coughing, asthma and worsening of existing respiratory and cardiac conditions are its other effects.

Noise Pollurion
Noise Pollution

Noise pollution

Noise pollution does not harm the environment as much as air pollution but if affects the health of the person negatively. If someone has to stay in a very noisy condition for long time, this will affect the hearing power (nervous system).

Effects of noise pollution
  1. Sitting in a noisy place for long time damages our hearing capacity,
  2. Imbalance in the production of hormones,
  3. Frustration, depression, hypertension etc.
  4. High-stress level and sleep disturbances.
Methods of controlling noise pollution
  1. Green belts should be created where there is the high level of noises.
  2. The people who work in noisy places should use earplugs.
  3. Vehicles which produces loud noise should not be operated near the cities.
  4. Windows and doors should be shut while at home.
