A traditional filing system is an old method of keeping the record in a systematic manner. The traditional filing is mostly used in government organization to keep the records. There are different types of traditional filing system. They are: Wrapped up or Bundle Filing, Wire or spike filing, Cardboard filing, Pigeon hole filing and Box filing.

Filing means keeping all the records or documents safe . The various types of filing are:
Trading Filing System:
This is the old method of keeping the record in a systematic manner. It is also called old or conventional filing system. Mostly traditional filing is used in government organization to keep the records. The methods of traditional filing are as follow:
1. Wrapped up or Bundle Filing:
This is the oldest type of filing. In this system, the documents of a certain period such as a month or a year are wrapped in a piece of cloth and tied up. The monthly or yearly bundles are placed in wooden planks or wracks. This filling system is still popular in the Nepalese courts and government offices.

The compartments in the almirah look like a pigeon hole so this filing system is called pigeon hole. While placing documents in the holes, they are properly folded to suit the size of the holes. The pigeon -hole filing is mostly used in offices like post office and courier services Besides it is also used in factories where a large number of workers are to communicate for different purposes.

In this system, boxes are used to file letters and documents. Such boxes are generally made up of paper, cardboards. The files are made in the shape of a box which is 7 to 10 cm in depth or height. Each subject has each separate boxes that may be stored on tables or cupboard or almirah. Box files safely preserve papers and documents from sunlights,dust, and dirt.
