A project is a planned action set up to achieve balanced and proportionate economic growth and human development. Following are some of the ongoing projects in Nepal
Location: Throughout the country
Aims:
a. To distribute 43 lakhs mobile phones to the people of the country within 3 years.
b. To provide mobile phone services throughout the country.
Benefits:
After the completion of the project, all the 75 districts will have the facility of telecom service and among 100, 16 people will get the facility of the mobile phone.
A project that will bring water from the Melamchi river of Sindhupalchowk situated north of Kathmandu by laying down pipeline through a tunnel which will distribute drinking water in the Kathmandu valley.
Objectives:
This project has been launched to fulfill the scarcity of water in Kathmandu valley.
Benefits:
After the completion of the project, the daily supply of water in the valley will be 17 crore liters and for a few years, this project will be able to fulfill the scarcity of water in the valley.
This project has been launched with the help of Asian Development Bank (ADB), donor countries and the Government of Nepal.
The government of Nepal has conducted a program "Karnali Ujyalo Karyakram" to provide solar lamps to the Karnali zone of Nepal which can light two bulbs through the solar energy to 60000 families of five districts of Karnali region. 95% of the investment is done by the government while 5% is to be done by the consumer themselves.
Objectives:
To provide solar light to the poor and needy people of the rural area.
Benefits:
a. According to the program, each family will get the provision to light two electric bulbs and also can listen to a small radio.
b. Students in the remote areas can study in the evening.
c. Means of communication like radio will bring awareness to the people regarding the political, social and economical condition of the country as well as in personal hygiene and sanitation.
Secondary Education Support Program has been conducted under the Ministry of Education and Sports throughout the country. The first phase of 15 years long project was conducted from 2003 to 2008 A.D. The project has been launched with the help of Asian Development Bank, DANIDA and the government of Nepal.
Objectives:
a. To increase school enrollment.
b. To make a curriculum for quality education.
c. To make easy availability of textbooks.
d. To provide different training materials and physical facilities.
The Secondary Education Support Programme has become successful in its objectives as it has improved accessibility and equity in education and developed institutional capacity of secondary education.

If I were the member of the National Planning Commission, I would prepare the following plan for the development of the Western Development Region.
Most of the Governmental and Non-Governmental projects in Nepal are based on Foreign Aids. As Nepal is one of the least developed country, it lack necessary technologies, human resource and finance. Although the physical resources are available enough, they have not been properly used for advantages.
The following points make the situation clearer.
Nepal is a developing country. It has not been able to utilize its resources better and lacks proper development of infrastructures. These also interrupt accomplishment of National level projects as per the objectives.

If I were a member of the National Planning Commission, I would choose a project related to rural development. It is because:
To carry out the developmental process, there are several such national projects under implementation. Among them the one is Melamchi water project.
The Melamchi water project is a long awaited development project. It is under construction with the objective to supply drinking water through a special tunneled tank from a stream at Mealmchi in Shindhupalcowk district. It is an ambitious developmental work made with billions of budget taking under consideration of the increasing need of water supply to the rapidly increasing population of the Kathmandu valley.
Our country has vast potential of generating electricity because we have rich water resources. For energy utilized in so many areas, we don't have to rely upon other things so much. But unfortunately, these things haven't been utilized. Many parts of our country, still, is in darkness. All people haven't been facilitated with electricity. As such, the government has made the provision of 'Karnali Ujyalo Karyakam' with the distribution of solar power equipment for immediate purpose. In fact, it's a potential enactment towards the people from the state. It has got various importance. Such as:
