Bhanu Bhakta
Poets are rarely born in this selfish and colored world; but when they are born they become glorious and make a golden history with their name. Bhanubhakta was born in Ramgha in Tanahu district in 1871 B.S. and shone all over Nepal as his name ‘Bhanu’.
Bhanu was the first poet who wrote poem in Nepali and was regarded as ‘Adhikavi’. Though he was born in a small place, he touched and felt the whole world by his internal feelings. As we know that every great man is inspired by someone, likewise, welfare of people, then Bhanu Bhakta thought to take his name above line of Sagarmatha and translated Sanskrit Ramayan. Especially in typical Nepali language he wrote the Ramayana as a result it made him famous in Nepal.
He wrote many poems expect the ‘Ramayana’. He wrote ‘Badhu Sikska’ ‘Prasnottar’ which gave broad knowledge to us. He also described Kathmandu and Balaju about their natural beauties in his poems. In the description of his book, Kathmandu and Balaju are named ad ‘Kantipur Barman’ and ‘Balaju Barman’. He said, “Kathmandu is the piece of heaven.”
We know every man is mortal. One who comes to earth has to leave one day. Likewise he also left us. Bhanu united or nation with Nepali language. His contribution is as great as P.N. Shah. On Ashad 29 he died. And we respect him presenting garland on his peaceful statue every year with our heart.
