Prostitution

Prostitution means to sell our own body for livelihood due to different compulsions. Generally girls are involved in prostitution (Sexual activities). The main causes of prostitution are as follows:

  • Trafficking of girls is the main cause of prostitution: Many of the girls from Nepal are trafficked and sent to different country for prostitution which is the main cause of prostitution.
  • Poverty: Many people are living under poverty. So, to live life happily they are involved in prostitution.
  • Lack of employment opportunities: Due to lack of employment opportunities, they choose prostitution as main source of income.
  • Lack of education to girls: Mainly illiterate girls are involved in prostitution because they cannot get good and qualified jobs.
  • lack of strict rules and regulations: In our country there is no strict rules and regulation, due to which prostitution is increasing overall the country.

This problem can be solved by following measures

  • Employment opportunities to women: If the women are provided with better jobs, they surely do not choose prostitution as source of income.
  • Women empowerment: If the women are empowered, they can get good jobs themselves and prostitution are decreased ultimately.
  • Formulation of strict rules and regulation: Government should formulate strict rules and regulation in order to avoid prostitution in the country.
  • Mass awareness: Awareness campaign should be launched in communities to aware people about negative impacts of prostitution. Thus, the prostitution will be abolished from our country.

Very Short Questions

If I knew that there is girls trafficking prevailed in my community, I would work together with the police force for identifying the borders and punishing them which easily solves the problem.

Any two suggestions to stop girl trafficking are:

  1. Restriction in the border area over the suspected ones.
  2. Provision of more employment facilities to discourage these illegal acts.

It is true that the formation of rules alone does not eradicate the social problems. They should be strictly implemented too. Nepal Government has provided various provisions for controlling such evil practices. There are provisions on untouchability, dowry system, chaupadi system, etc. but they are still in practice. To make it more clearly, I would like to add the following points:

  1. Most of the people have no detail idea regarding the provisions in law against such malpractices. They should better know about the provision. Only then people maintain to keep themselves away from such practice.
  2. Though the rules and regulations are better, they are not being properly implemented. Such situation has increased ignorance among the people.
  3. We can see people freely roaming around even after they were proven guilty. Such situation decreases the beliefs of people towards the law.
  4. Formal and informal educational programmes should be rendered to the people so that high level of awareness is created regarding importance of law.

As a conscious citizen, I would play the following roles to solve social problems:

  1. I would take part in every programmes organized in my community by different governmental and non-governmental, local organization for creating awareness.
  2. I would work together with community people to make them able to identify and solve the problems from the family first and gradually to others.
  3. Strict legal action against those who adopt and promote legally eliminated social problems should be taken. For this, I would work with the police administration.
  4. I publicly promise not to go through any such social problem that harms the development and prosperity of the society.

The long term measures to check girl trafficking are as follows:

  1. Girls should be provided with good employment opportunities.
  2. The people in girl trafficking areas should be educated.
  3. Brokers or traffickers should be severely punished.
  4. The discrimination between girls and boys should be abolished.
  5. Boarders should be checked strictly.

I would prepare the following plan to rehabilitate the trafficked girls of Nepal:

  1. I would identify the trafficked girls and bring them back to my rehabilitation centre.
  2. I would collect grants from the people and conduct a building to rehabilitate trafficked girls.
  3. I would check all the border areas and bring the trafficked girls within our country and send to my centre.
  4. I would request all the people to help me to identify trafficked girls within our country and send to my centre.

Girl trafficking is a social evil along with a crime. For one's economic property an innocent one is sold to a brothel house or someone's hell-like house. As such, I have a great contempt and contribute myself in the following ways:

  1. I will boldly indicate those people to the administration to take action against them.
  2. I would make a single or small mobilization team of awareness programme at the villages where people are unemployed or uneducated.
  3. I would be ready to take initiatives to contribute the agencies at more border areas to stop the border cross of those girls.
  4. I would form training campaigns to provide money generating skillful trainings to achieve employment opportunities.

The effects of girls trafficking in individual are as follows: -

  1. It gives physical and mental torture to the individuals which sometimes may lead them to misconduct, like-sucide, murder etc.
  2. The trafficked girls and women deprive of freedom, human rights and dignity in the society.

Girls trafficking is a very inhuman activity in our society. The effects of girls trafficking in society are as follows:

  1. Return of infected women/girls from fatal diseases, like HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis B/C etc. may spread to others in the society.
  2. Development works may be hampered and the country gets backward due to feeble and critical condition of trafficked girls.

A social problem prevalent in my community is drug addiction. The measure to eliminate it is to 'say no to drugs' and avoiding bad company.

Corruption and girls trafficking are the two social problems of our community. I would play the following role to solve the problem of corruption:

  1. Publicize the communication against the corruption.
  2. Prohibit entrance to the corrupts.
  3. Boycott corrupts socially.
  4. Inform to the police if the corrupt person is found.
  5. Minimize corrupt character.
