Laws of Motion

Notes

Newton’s Laws of Motion

A force can cause both the translation as well as rotational as well as rotational motion on an object. This note provide us an information on the first law of motion and inertia.

Newton's Second and Third Law of Motion

Newton’s Second Law of Motion states that the rate of change of momentum of a body with respect time is directly proportional to the net external force applied on it and the change takes place in the direction of force. Newton’s Second Law of Motion states that the rate of change of momentum of a body with respect time is directly proportional to the net external force applied on it and the change takes place in the direction of force.

Applications of Newton's Laws of Motion

This note provides us an information about the application of impulse and application of Newton's law of motion .When a man stands on a weighing machine in a lift, the weight of mass acts downwards while the machine offers a reaction R upward given by reading of the machine. But if the man and the weighing machine both are in motion, the machine shows the apparent weight which will be different than the actual weight.

Principle of Conversation of Linear Motion

This note provides us an information about Principle of conversation of linear motion .Momentum is the motion contained in a body. The quantity of motion possessed by a body depends on upon both of its mass and velocity. The product of mass and velocity is the measure of the momentum.

Friction

Friction is opposing force that is set up at the surface of contact, when one body slides or rolls or tends to do so on the surface of another body.

Verification of the laws of limiting Friction and Angle of Friction

The coefficient of limiting friction is equal to the tangent of the angle of friction. This note provide us an information on verification of laws of limiting friction, angle of friction, methods of reducing friction and importance of friction.
